A THEATRE production of children's personal accounts of last year's devastating floods will be touring the Cotswolds.

Over 100 young people aged between four and 18 from schools and youth groups were given the chance to share their stories with the Stroud Theatre Company which wrote a play based on the memories following a £1 million cash boost from the government.

The play, called The Higher Ground, will tour most of the county in two weeks.

Kim Kenny, development officer for Stroud Theatre Company, said: "There are various stories which inspired the writer. He took the stories and various flooding myths from around the world and wove them all together to make the story. There are two characters - a boy and a girl and they are storymakers."

The play will be shown in Wotton-Under-Edge at Under the Edge Arts on Friday, July 11 at 7.30pm, Cirencester's New Brewery Arts on Saturday, July 12 at 11am and the Cotswold Hall in Northleach on Friday, July 18 at 7.30pm as well as various other centres around the county.

Tickets are available from the individual halls and community centres.
