SAILING: McKeemans bid for National Championships
KEMPSFORD's sailing duo Iain and Sophie McKeeman set off for North Wales this weekend to take part in the RYA Youth National Championships and Trials 2008.
More than 250 of the country's best Under 19 racers will converge on Pwllheli Sailing Club from Saturday, March 29 to Friday, April 4 to do battle in what is regarded as British Youth sailing's premier annual racing event.
And this year it gets the royal seal of approval as HRH, The Princess Royal, President of the Royal Yachting Association, has agreed to attend.
"Iain and Sophie are hoping to finish in the top four in their respective events - Iain in the Laser Standard and Sophie in the Laser Radial," said their dad Alastair.
"The winner of each class automatically qualifies for the Youth World Championship and how they sail next week goes a long way to deciding what they will be doing for the rest of the season.
"We will be going up on Friday to go on the water and get a feel of the conditions before the event."
