Goble applauded by judge
CASEY Goble, 36, was congratulated by a judge today for making a success of his first month on a drug rehab order.
A month ago, Goble, who has lost two of his three brothers to drug addiction and suicide, escaped jail for a burglary offence and was given an 18-month community order with six months rehabiltation requirement.
Goble, of Melmore Gardens, Cirencester, was back at Gloucester crown court today for his first review of the order and was told by Recorder Shamim Qureshi that he was doing well.
He had kept all his appointments for rehab, the judge was told.
Recorder Qureshi congratulated him and told him to return on April 23 for his next progress check.
Goble had admitted breaking into a home in Hereward Avenue, Cirencester, on March 4 last year and stealing a handbag and purse, bank cards, cheque book, £90 in cash, camera, mobile phone, driving licence, keys, bank books and a diary.
His barrister, David Martin, told the court at the last hearing that Goble had been through an 'awful battle to get off drugs, even prescribed drugs.'
He said Goble's father, Charles, had done everything he could to get his son on the straight and narrow, having seen two other sons die and the third go to jail for a long term.
