THE FINAL week of the season saw the completion of the League matches and the four Cup Finals.

On Tuesday, April 29 at a wet and windy Corinium Stadium, Stratton United put aside their disappointment at missing out on League honours by lifting the Mills-Roberts Cup after a 5-1 victory over last year's winners Corinium Sports.

Although the score would tend to indicate a one-sided match, it was far from it with Corinium's strikers guilty of missing several chances in the first half which could have changed the course of the match if taken.

On Thursday, Real Fairford won their first silverware in only their second season when they triumphed 2-1 against a battling Oaksey side.

Fairford established a 2-0 lead and appeared to be coasting to victory when Oaksey pulled a goal back with a few minutes left.

This stung Oaksey in to action and for the rest of the match they laid siege to the Fairford goal until the referee's final whistle ended an excellent game of football with Fairford hanging on by their fingertips.

On Saturday afternoon, it was the Junior Charities Cup Final with Taverners III, having already claimed the Division 2 title, hoping to do the double.

Their opponents Ashton Keynes had other ideas and in another exiting contest Keynes came from behind twice before netting the winner.

Their 3-2 win was the fifth time that the club has won the cup, but the first since 1993.

On Bank Holiday Monday, the young Real Fairford team played even better than they did against Oaksey to claim the Perry Bishop & Chambers Senior Charities Cup with a stunning 6-3 win over a dazed Beeches team.

If the squad stays together they will take some beating next season.

Beeches had the consolation of winning the marathon which is the League Championship and were presented with the Division 1 Cup by the League President Mike Smith after the match.
