More patrols please

LUCKINGTON residents have told police they want to see a more patrols in the village.

The request scored the highest in a survey carried out by the rural neighbourhood policing team aimed at finding out what local people thought they should be concentrating on.

A total of 20 percent of householders who responded wanted to see a more visible police presence in the area and 18 percent asked for speeding to be tackled.

No other worries, such as burglary, drink and drugs, vandalism, antisocial behaviour or emergency response times scored more than 10 percent each.

PCSO Durry Maule, who carried out the survey, said: "Over 50 of the 300 or so forms delivered were returned in four weeks. This is a very good level of response for this type of consultation."

He explained: "The next step is to consult with a tasking group made up of partner agencies and local community leaders to establish the priorities and means to tackling them.

"However, the figures would appear to give a clear indication of what those two priorities may be."
