Two pint blunder

A MOTORIST who was twice the drink drive limit after a couple of pints of beer has been banned from getting behind the wheel for 21 months.

Michael Corry was on his way home from a pub to Church Park, Bradenstoke when he was stopped by police on April 30, Chippenham magistrates heard on Tuesday.

A breath test revealed he had 75 microgrammes of alcohol per 100 ml of breath. The legal limit is 35.

Corry, 60, who works at Dyson in Malmesbury, admitted drink driving. He told the bench: "I was naïve to think that two pints was acceptable."

He said he had kept a clean licence for 40 years and was likely to lose his job if he was banned.

The bench fined him £300, with a £15 victim surcharge and £60 court costs. He was advised his ban could be reduced to 16 months if he completed a drink driver rehabilitation course.
