PEOPLE living in Northleach are irate with Cotswold District Council's new waste and recycling scheme.
At a town council meeting last Tuesday, resident Stephen Chilton was furious at the way the first day of the operation had been conducted.
"There was stuff left everywhere, bags hadn't been collected," he said. "If you run a commercial organisation like that people will go somewhere else - we don't have that option."
Mr Chilton said he was unimpressed with the way waste operatives carried out their jobs.
"I'm astounded by the ignorance of it all, I'm not pleased at paying rates for this" he commented. "I would like to know who is training these people, it's just mind-boggling."
Chris Hancock, mayor of Northleach and Eastington, agreed, he said: "Today was a shambles, without a doubt."
In response, Mark Tufnell, CDC councillor for Northleach ward, highlighted that the new system had in total reduced the amount of waste from 80 tonnes to 20 tonnes.
He appealed for time to get the system working properly and sort out any teething problems.
"We are trying our best, please try and be patient," he said. "It's something I'm going to make sure they work out."

Because 60 tonnes of it are still sat on the pavements around the county waiting to be collected!
