A CHEF from a luxury spa hotel in Tetbury has been shortlisted for a prestigious award.
Calcot Manor and Spa sous chef Wyn Jones is in the running for the Professional Chef Award at the South West Chef of the Year Awards.
This year's fierce competition of chefs have come from pubs, restaurants, hotels, and schools from all six counties across the region.
The winners will be announced at a glitzy awards presentation evening at Exeter Golf and Country Club on Tuesday, October 24.
As well as the Professional Chef Award, awards will also be given out to the best young professional chef, student/apprentice chef, home cook and junior chef from the region.
Katharine Lady Berkeley's School student Catherine, alongside her mentor Richard Davies from Calcot Manor, has been shortlisted for the Junior Chef Award.
Executive chef at The Watergate Bay Hotel in Newquay Neil Haydock, who judged the semi-finals of the competition, said: “The semi finals set a high bar for the final on October 24.
"Congratulations to those going through.
" For those who didn’t make it this time, know it was one of the most consistent arrays of dishes we have seen in a long time, creating much deliberation amongst the judges.
"The difference between progressing to the final and not was down to the finest of margins.
"I’m looking forward to the finals and seeing those who didn’t make it come back next year and smash it!”
