DEMOLITION work started this week on one of the few remaining brownfield sites in Tetbury, clearing the way for the construction of 45 zero carbon homes.
The 0.85 hectare site is located in London Road in Tetbury, next to the Tesco superstore.
It has been vacant for several years, having previously been used as a garage, petrol station and retail store.
Developer Newland Homes started knocking down the existing structures on the brownfield site this week to make way for what will become The Limes housing estate.
The new development will comprise of 45 new homes, including a mix of two-bedroom coach houses, as well as two, three and four bedroom contemporary homes with parking and garages.
Newland Homes aim to build the new houses with a high level of insulation, solar panels for electricity generation, air source heat pumps for hot water and heating, and electric car charging points.
The first homes in this new development are expected to be available to purchase next year.
Marcus Evans, sales and marketing director at Newland Homes, said: “Brownfield sites such as this are a rarity in the centre of Tetbury and it’s a great honour to be responsible for its transformation, creating much-needed, high-quality, zero carbon homes which provide a cleaner and greener alternative to homeowners and transform the way homes are designed and run.”
